We have 4 Dalmatians to be spayed this month.Our goal is to protect the breed by avoiding the unnecessary birth of unwanted litters.
The cost of Daisy’s, Folti’s, Berry’s and Winnie’s surgery is nearly 100.000 HUF (336 EUR, 425 USD) We don’t have this amount of money!
Nevertheless, these dogs can’t be adopted without being spayed.

Berry, the Dalmatian guy rescued from horrible conditions has spent his caranteen time. He was vaccinated and microchipped. Today, after the second visit, he moved to his promising candidates, a young couple for probation.
He needs to get used to the parquet, stairs and doors – all the new things unknown to a dog, who lived on chains in a yard without any roof above his head.
Fortunately, he behaves calm in the car and in the flat, too. We truly hope that he will adapt to his new home.

Dorka, the Dalmatian lady needs a new home.
She is looking for someone with a flat or a family house, where she could live as a single dog, since she doesn’t really tolerate other dogs around her. Chases cats.
She needs a home, where she is allowed to go and sleep inside, especially in the autumn and winter months, when the weather gets cold. Dorka would like to find a loving family ASAP. Due to family reasons no heated place will be guaranteed for her for the next winter season.
Enjoys fawning up to people and sharing her love with both family members and strangers. Housebroken.

Daisy had a surgery

Daisy was sterilized on Friday afternoon and she coped with the surgery very well, since she has gained strength and a fine musculture during the past few weeks spent in her fosterhome. She enjoys lolling in the house in this warm weather. She is also spending her recovery time inside on a nice pillow.

Daisy is a lovely lady. Her short muzzle and small figure conveys a puppy-like impression. She simply adores fawning up to people. Her favourite toy is a rubber chicken, no wonder why she likes it so much: http://gallery.site.hu/u/dalmatamentes/ … 2.MOV.html

Folti and her promising candidate

During the last few weeks we have received countless emails regarding Folti, the Dalmatian-mix lady rescued from chains. Several letters and phone calls anticipated the long-awaited meeting between a young couple and Folti. A second visit followed the first one, which indeed confirmed their responsible intention to adopt the lovely spotted lady. They live at the other end of Budapest, but covering the long distance didn’t mean any problem for them as they are more than willing to do anything for this beautiful little girl. Mutual sympathy is clearly there.

We made an appointment for Folti’s sterilization for the 25th of May. After the successful surgery, she can move to her new sweet home.

Romeo NEEDS A FOSTER HOME SOS!
His owner is moving abroad on the 19th of May for a longer period, so Romeo is looking for a temporary or permanent home right now!
He is a 6-year-old purebred Dalmatian boy, neutered.
Playful, energetic, needs lots of physical exercise.
A sensitive soul, who loves human company and likes fawning upon people.
Gets on well with children. Chases cats unknown to him.
Housebroken. Recommended for owners with a family house, where he can go and sleep inside as he demands human company. Romeo doesn’t really endure the cold weather and he tends to escape whenever there is a thunderstorm. He can be left alone only in a secure garden completely beset with a concrete-based fence.
Walks well on leash, needs daily exercise and walks.
Vaccinated, dewormed, healthy.

Április 2-án az egri gyepmesteri telepre bekerült egy dalmata szuka. A helyi állatmentő szervezet a Vidám Mancsok Egyesület egyből értesített is minket. Pár napra rá fel is hozták nekünk Budapestre, ahol egyik ideiglenes befogadonk már nagyon várta. Első útja az állatorvoshoz vezetett ahol chippet kapott, majd pár napra rá megkapta a veszettség elleni oltását is. Mivel füle érdekessen kopasz volt ezért kaparékot is vett róla az állatorvos. Laboreredményeiből kiderült, hogy egy gombás fertőzés okozza a kopaszságát. Kezelését azon nyomban elkezdtük. Hónap végén megkapta a kombinált oltást is, és megejtettük az időpont egyeztetést is az ivartalanításra melyre május 11-én kerül sor.
Daisy egyébként egy nagyon kedves, bájos 2 éves dalmata hölgy. Sok munka vár ideiglenes befogadójára mert más kutyákkal egyáltalán nem jön ki, de mi ezt a tulajdonságát szeretnénk kicsit elnyomni.

A hónapban Daisyn kívűl még Folti, Winne és Berry is a gondozásunkba került.
Folti egy fiatal, álomszép dalmata keverék szuka. Hosszú, hullámos hófehér alapon fekete pettyes szőrrel rendelkezik, egyébént egy mindössze 16 kilós kiskutya, tehát valamivel kisebb mint az átlagos dalmaták.

Winnie egy mindössze 10 hónapos fajtatiszta, törzskönyves dalmat leányzó. Nem indult zökkenő mentesen kis élete. Családja azért keresett meg minket, mert gazdáját megharapta, fél az emberektől, főleg a férfiaktól és ezért náluk tovább nem maradhat. Szerencsére egyik tapasztalt, kitartó csapattagunk bevállalta Winniet és mindent megtesz annak érdekében, hogy megmutassa Winnienek, hogy nincs miért félnie az emberektől.

Berry-t a 2 év körüli dalmata kant egy vastelepről, láncról mentették szörnyű körülmények közül.

Köszönet a mentésért Lakos Györgynek és Csapatának, valamint a budaörsi állatmenhelynek ahol elhelyezték, míg át nem tudtuk szállítani a Siófoki Állatvédő Alapítvány menhelyére, ahol a karantén idejét tölti.
Berry egyébként egy nagyon kedves, kifogástalan viselkedésű kutya, kijön mindennemű kutyával és nyugodt természetének köszönhetően akár kisgyerek mellé is költözhet.

Kutyával a Bakonyban 2012

Egyesületünk tagjai a Siófoki Állatvédő Alapítvány tagjai társaságában részt vett a Kutyával a Bakonyban teljesítménytúrán április 22-én a Föld Napján.
A túra nagyszerű hangulatban telt, az idő is kifogásolhatatlan volt leszámítva a táv utolsó 20 percében ránk zúduló esőt.
A 15 km-es távot mindenki sikeresen teljesítette.Köszönjük a szervezőknek ezt a nyagyszerű túrát, reméljük jövőre sem marad ki ez a nagyszerű esemény.

Winnie, the 1-year-old liver-spotted Dalmatian lady needs an experienced and patient owner.
She is very shy and mistrustful towards strangers, therefore we do not recommend her for families with children. She is particularly afraid of men. Often barks from insecurity.
Winnie is a typical Dalmatian by nature: a stubborn and willful girl, so she is looking for someone with extra patience and steadiness. However, she is a fast-learner and she loves training, too.
Gets on well with dogs. A calm and balanced doggy friend would be a huge help for her.
Recommended for owners with a family house, where she’s allowed to go inside.
Winnie is an extremely energetic Dally, who needs daily walks and physical exercise.
She demands to be close to her owner, but she also likes to have some privacy and take a rest in her comfy bed or in the cool shadow.
She would like to find someone, who could spend a lot of time with her and also take her to a dog school. There is much to learn due to her young age and the lack of training.
Vaccinated, dewormed, sterilized, healthy, pedigree-dog.

Ottó, the 4 year-old purebred Dalmatian male needs a new home.
He is a smart and energetic spotty fellow. Unfortunately he spends most of the day in a garden so his owners decided to find him a new family.
Otto is a muscular and active dog. He likes running about almost all day long, therefore we recommend him for owners with a family house.
Chases cats. Very friendly with children.
Playful, likes playing with a ball and fetching sticks and toys.
Otto walks well on leash and he likes going for walks but he hasn’t been socialized with other dogs.
Recommended as a single dog or to an experienced and determined person, who would make Otto accustomed to their good-natured and submissive dog (with the possible help of a dog-trainer or dog school).
Vaccinated, dewormed, healthy.
Ottó can be adopted with the obligation to neuter and microchip him. Our organization offers its contribution to these costs.

The donations needed for Folti’s veterinary costs have arrived. She received the Rabies and combination vaccines plus a microchip. Her sterilization is set mid-May. We have received a couple of more thousand Forints, which we used to get Daisy vaccinated and microchipped. However, we still lack the proper financial resources for her sterilization (20.000.-Ft ~ € 70 ~ 92 USD)!!

We made an appointment for Daisy’s surgery for next Friday, the 11th of May. We rely on the help of supporters in order to get her through the procedure! Each and every small amount counts.

He lived on a chain so he could do with some muscular development.

Fura felépült és gazdát keres

Fura, az idős dalmata hölgy hamar felépült a korához képest komoly műtétből melyet egy nagylelkű adományozónak köszönhet!

Gondozója tollából:

Fura nagyon jól van, napról napra szépen javul. Olyan mintha meg se műtötték volna. Már visszavittem a kenelbe. A telephelyen mindenki nagyon várta. Elhalmozták finom falatokkal. Jól érzi magát nézgelődik. Reggel munka előtt megsétáltatom és munka után is sétálunk.

Ma már jó nagyokat futkározott. Szinte olyan mintha meg se lett volna műtve. Szerintem még sok kilométer van ebbe a kutyusba.

Reménykedem, hogy találunk neki egy kertesházas gazdit. Ma is olyan jókat játszott. Hálás mindenért.

Kb. 1 órás séta, szaladgálás és játék kifárasztja, úgy 2 órára azután megint beindul, meghazuttolja a korát.

Jövőhéten viszem varratszedésre. De nagyon szép a sebe. Hiába igaz a mondás “ebcsont beforr”.

Szeretném megköszöni nagylelkű adományát Fura és a magam nevében. Az emlődaganatot szerencsésen eltávolították, és Fura nagyon jól viselte. Szépen gyógyul. Nagyon jókedéjű és az étvágya is hatalmas.

Fura eredeti gazdája életkörülményeinek hirtelen megváltozása miatt nem tudta tovább tartani a kutyát, rokona helyezte el a fent leírt módon és foglalkozik vele. Hazavinni, télen fűtött helyet biztosítani számára nem tud!

Ideiglenesen ugyan megoldott a helyzete, de sokkal jobb lenne ennek a kedves dalmata hölgynek, ha ember közelben lehetne éjszakára-hétvégére is nem csak munka előtt és után.

Fura, the elderly lady in good shape, needs a sweet home

An incredibly fast recovery followed her surgery. Today, she runs about happily during the walks. According to her carer Fura could easily cover several miles. But when the evening comes poor Dally is left alone in a kennel in the working place of her carer. She was allowed to sleep on a comfy pillow all along her recovery, but that period is over now.

Fura would love to find someone who could take care of her and this way she wouldn’t have to spend the nights and weekends alone.
She’d be glad to have a nice snug close to people. Behaves well inside, perfectly housebroken, asks to be let out. All in all Fura wouldn’t mean any trouble.

Our organization offers help and contribution to possible veterinary costs in case someone adopted her.

Panka has been adopted

Panka, the beautiful and smart Dalmatian-mix girl had lived in the ASKA animal shelter for months.

She was finally adopted by a nice family in April. We send her our best wishes for a very happy new life!

Berry, the 2 year-old young Dalmatian male, was rescued by György Lakos and his team from terrible circumstances on the 17th of April 2012. He lived in Berettyóújfalú in the corner of a plot. No roof, no water and no food ensured, just a short and thick chain around his neck.
Berry is now taken care of by the Hungarian Dalmatian Rescue. More information coming soon.

Egon has finally been adopted!

Egon has finally been adopted!

We began to advertise him in January 2012, originally as Pongo from the Domus Optima organization.

In March a couple of dog lovers found him in the woods near Veszprém. He was in the worst condition ever: the once beautiful and strong Dalmatian male was mere skin and bone. His body was covered in countless wounds, even the end of his tail was missing. It also turned out that he was deaf and he was completely washed-out.

Pongo was taken over by the Vackoló animal rescue organization, where he received a new chance and a new name, as well. Egon gained strengh and recovered very well during the next weeks. His condition was sufficient enough to go through the procedure of neutering. We received the news that Egon has recently been rehomed.

We really hope that his new family will take care of him very well and he won’t get lost again. (Egon received a microchip.)

News about Fura

In the summer of 2011 we received an email about a Dalmatian lady. Her elderly owner wasn’t able to look after her any longer because her circumstances had changed.

The relatives couldn’t adopt nor foster the dog so they asked us to find a home for Fura.
Fura is an elderly lady and she needed a surgery, too. Unfortunately no one has shown any interest in her so far.

Her carers managed to find a place for Fura, well, not in a family, but they walk her every day and so the loyal dog wasn’t left alone. They take care of her health and she was taken to the vets, as well. A few weeks later they asked our help again to be able to operate her breast tumour. We organized a fundraising for Fura and just before Christmas a generous supporter transferred the cost of surgery to the HDR’s bank account.
We would like to thank them this way for giving Fura another chance.

Fura visited the veterinarian in the past days. According to the bloodtest results she is in great shape and her condition is sufficient enough to go through with the surgery. This playful and lovely Dalmatian lady will be sterilized this Thursday.

We took over Paca, the adoptable Dalmatian male in March 2012.

We rescued him from euthanasia and so he was given a new chance for a happier and better life.
One of our team members visited him last Friday in his foster home. After the initial distrust they made friends and Paca welcomed her happily.
